MANILA – I-Remit Inc has partnered with the operator of Palawan Pawnshop to expand its branch network in the Philippines where beneficiaries can pick up their cash remittances.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the country’s largest Filipino-owned non-bank remittance firm said it signed a memorandum of agreement with Eight Under Par (Pawnshop Operator) Inc for the “effective and efficient distribution of remittances originating from foreign sources to designated beneficiaries in the Philippines.”

In a phone interview, Fitzgerald Duba, I-Remit first vice president, said the listed company tapped Palawan Pawnshop because of its wide network of 823 branches in 45 provinces nationwide.

Palawan Pawnshop has 519 branches in the Visayas, 106 in Mindanao, and 126 in Luzon, excluding the 72 in Metro Manila.

With the agreement, remittances may be credited to any account maintained in 9,439 branches of I-Remit’s partner banks in the Philippines.

I-Remit operates through a combined network of branches and tie-ups worldwide, offering its products and services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). It is present in 27 countries and territories in Asia Pacific, MiddleEast, Europe and Canada.
