Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide voluntary effort involving community members, business corporations and social organizations to help various Philippine public schools in prepare for the upcoming school year. Supported by the DepEd (Department of Education), Brigada Eskwela encourages volunteers to provide manual labor and donate construction materials such as paint, cement, lumber and other items needed for the maintenance and repairs of classrooms, desks, chairs and other school facilities.
Last May 18, I-Remit officers and employees, in cooperation with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (of which I-Remit recently became one of their member companies), joined other companies in the annual Brigada Eskwela activity at the Katutubo Village Elementary School in Porac, Pampanga. It was a well-attended event and I-Remit volunteers spent time painting school chairs and covering children’s textbooks in the elementary school grounds.
Among the I-Remit volunteers were Mr. Harris Jacildo (President and COO), Mr. Ronald Benito (SVP-International Treasury), Ms. Regine Shimamoto (VP-Human Capital Management Division), Mr. Glenn Igual, (VP-Information Technology) and Ms. Cristina Castillejo (AVP-Marketing).
