I-Remit Inc., the country`s largest Filipino-owned non-bank remittance company and Surewell Equities Inc., a firm engaged in property development projects located in Metro Manila and nearby towns has recently donated a house and lot showcase to a lucky overseas Filipino worker last January 28, 2008 during the launch of DBP hedge fund in Hongkong.
Awarding the new home to Lilia Penora Palmes were Vice President Noli de Castro and Mr. Bansan Choa, Chairman and CEO of I-Remit. It was a Sunday surprise for Palmes as she received the new 2 bedroom home in La Brezza Cluster from VP de Castro and Choa. Palmes was among the hundreds of Filipinos, mostly migrant workers, who turned up for the launch of the hedge fund for overseas Filipino workers initiated by the government- owned bank, Development Bank of the Philippines.
Choa immediately responded to the request of Vice President de Castro to donate a house and lot for raffle draw during the event. “It is our way of appreciation to our Filipino workers who send home more than $14 Billion, thus, supporting the Philippine economy.” Choa, a keen supporter of OFW projects and activities always visited Filipinos around the globe during road shows said that this sector really did something concrete good for our economy. He quickly added, “our campaign focus has now changed in support to OFWs.”
